To our Valued Clients:
In line with Monday's Government announcement that the nation will be stepping down to Level 3 for the Covid-19 situation at 11.59pm on Monday, 27 April 2020, we would like to advise that as of next Tuesday, 28 April 2020 we will once again be operating from our offices at 18 Butler Street.
However, at Level 3 there are still stringent requirements in place when a business is operating from its premises once again.
We would like to reassure all of you that we will be strictly following these requirement, including:
GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING LEVEL 3:
Workers, and Businesses:
Most, but not all businesses can start to open under Alert Level 3. They must take health measures to keep their workers safe.
Under Alert Level 3 we must continue to stay in our household bubbles whenever we are not at work, school, buying the groceries or exercising.
People must stay within their immediate household bubble, but can expand this to reconnect with close family / whānau, or bring in caregivers, or support isolated people. It’s important to protect your bubble once it’s been extended. Keep your bubble exclusive and only include people where it will keep you and them safe and well. If anyone within your bubble feels unwell, they should self-isolate from everyone else within your bubble.
Education:
Under Alert Level 3 it will be safe for Early Learning / Education Centres and schools to open for children up to and including year 10, with appropriate public health measures in place. All young people in years 11-13 will continue to learn at home.
Where possible, students should remain at home connected to distance learning. Where parents or caregivers need to, they can send their children to school. Schools will be a safe place for children to go to learn if their parents need to return to work, or the children cannot learn at a distance. Children who are able to, should remain home and learn via distance.
More information regarding Level 3 status can be found at www.covid19.govt.nz.
We trust you all stay safe and well, and look forward to things going back to normal in the very near future!
Kind regards,
The team at Hugh Smith Perry Lawyers

Due to yesterday’s government announcement we have moved into Alert Level 3 and will be progressing to Alert Level 4 by mid-night on Wednesday, 25 March 2020.
EVERY BUSINESS IN NEW ZEALAND IS GOING TO BE AFFECTED BY THIS
We want to reassure you that we will be here for you and your business. We have the ability to work remotely and will continue providing the necessary services to you where this is possible.
We trust that this outbreak will soon pass. In the interim, your support will help us to comply with government requirements. Please take care to remain safe and protect yourself and your family.

However, at Level 3 there are still stringent requirements in place when a business is operating from its premises once again.
We would like to reassure all of you that we will be strictly following these requirement, including:
- maintaining physical distance between workers, and limiting the workers in the office. Those who can work from home will continue to do so.
- our work place will be kept clean and safe, all surfaces will be disinfected regularly and high hygiene standards will be maintained.
- we will continue to meet with you via phone or zoom/skype unless this is unfeasible because it would mean obligatory legal requirements would be compromised.
- If we have to meet with any client personally, it would be under the strictly controlled conditions noted above, including maintaining the 2 meter face-to-face physical distance and the appropriate hygiene standards. In line with this, our offices will only be open to those who have pre-arranged appointments (and only if, as noted above, we are unable to transact matters without meeting in person).
- Our staff will not be wearing Personal Protective Equipment, but please feel free to wear your own PPE if you prefer to do so if meeting at our offices.
GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING LEVEL 3:
Workers, and Businesses:
Most, but not all businesses can start to open under Alert Level 3. They must take health measures to keep their workers safe.
- Workers must work from home if they can
- Workplaces must operate safely – maintain physical distance between workers, recording who is working together, limiting interaction between groups of workers, disinfecting surfaces, and maintaining high hygiene standards
- Retail and hospitality businesses can only open for delivery and contactless pre-ordered pick up – customers cannot enter stores
- Supermarkets, dairies and petrol stations can continue to allow customers into their stores, with the same restrictions and measures in place as Alert Level 4
- Businesses cannot offer services which involve face-to-face contact or sustained close contact (e.g. hairdressing, massage, house cleaning, or door-to-door salespeople)
- Other in home services can be delivered if it is safe to do so (like tradespeople for repairs or installations) – keep two metre separation from those in the house
- Most workers will not require PPE to stay safe at work. Incorrectly used PPE can create more risk. Good hygiene measures like hand washing with soap and water, physical distancing, sneeze and cough etiquette, and wiping down surfaces is the best defence against COVID-19
Under Alert Level 3 we must continue to stay in our household bubbles whenever we are not at work, school, buying the groceries or exercising.
People must stay within their immediate household bubble, but can expand this to reconnect with close family / whānau, or bring in caregivers, or support isolated people.
